West Nile Virus Time Again.
With swarms of mosquitoes already flooding the Upper Valley it won't be long before the Westside gets some of the disease carrying pests as well. With the City/County Health Department still a mess after our expose on Dr. Jorge Magana got him fired and one Interim Director, Dr. Bob Galvan, gone; there is another Interim Director now serving that is neither an M.D. nor do they have a Doctorate in Public Health or Public Health Administration.
It is important to remember that all it takes is one bite of a mosquito that has the West Nile Virus for the person to be infected.
The persons most at risk are children and the elderly and also those with impaired immune systems due to stress, injury, illness or post-surgery recovery.
West Nile Virus is a deadly disease. As in fatal. If you or any one you know comes down with flu like symptoms during the mosquito season it is important to make sure that the person takes precautions and does not make the mistake that it is just a cold or flu. The person needs bed rest and good nutritional balance in order for the immune system to overcome the disease which it will in 98% of the cases.
