La Vie en Rose Starts off UTEP Cinema.
If you are tired of looking at the world through the screen on your cell phone or watching garbage on TV then the Utep Office of Special Events has something special for you.
The UTEP Cinema Novo film series will be showing actual 35mm films and the color is superb. It will be the color you were used to as a child when you would go to the neighborhood movie house or theatre.
The series starts off January 18th and 19th with Academy Award nominated La Vie en Rose which is about the discovery of a very talented female singer the Little Sparrow, Edith Piaf (1915-1963) and her rise to become the "breath of Paris". Marion Cotillard is nominated for an Oscar as Best Actress.
Next up are two very differnt films. On January 25th and 26th "Paris Je taime" is really a series of short films about falling in love in Paris.
Then on February 1st and 2nd we get a taste of the good/evil in the world when we get a dose of insight into the life and decisions by former Secretary of Defense, Robert McNamara, who reveals some of the underlying truths about the start of the Vietnam War. "The Fog of War" will provide an indepth analysis of one of the most controversial figures in US 20th century history.
